KNOW BEFORE YOU CALL

Good questions to ask about painting.

Paint lasts as long as the prep underneath it. In a damp climate, scraping, priming, caulking and dry weather windows decide whether a paint job looks good for years or peels in a season.

QUESTION 01

What prep is included?

Washing, scraping, priming and caulking should be listed in the estimate.

QUESTION 02

Which products and how many coats?

Compare paint lines and coat counts across estimates.

QUESTION 03

How do you handle weather delays?

Exterior paint needs dry, mild conditions to cure.

Before you hire: In Washington, most contractors must be registered with the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I). Look the business up with L&I’s Verify a Contractor tool before you sign anything. In Oregon, contractors who work on homes must be licensed by the Construction Contractors Board (CCB). Check the license on the CCB website before you sign anything.
